Sparks provides different meeting spaces for people and organizations. For their new location, a fine example of international Art Deco architecture, NABS had to develop a dozen meeting rooms, an entrance hall, a bar/restaurant and several new restrooms. The result is a surprising yet charismatic world full of contrast. Every room has its distinct identity, but viewed as a whole, one will experience uniformity, the true Sparks universe.
Nabs used the original elements of the building as a starting point. The floor in the oval hall -a work by Olivier Strebelle including 3 colours of marble and insertions of ceramics - defines the colour pallet. The original materials such as travertine, marble and concrete, still present in the building, were combined with more contemporary materials including latex, clay, stainless steel, foam, resin, velvet and rough aluminium. A more dated 80’s vibe is combined with a new-found contrast: metals go hand in hand with travertine and green marble, shininess is contrasted with softness, a rather theatrical and museum-like experience with a cosy and warm atmosphere.
The result is a futuristic approach to the decorative arts movement. Entering sparks means entering a new environment, a world of contrast and reflection, perfect for new tendency meetings.
NABS designed this space with the creative direction of Cobra Studios.
